Mahalo, Christy Avilla and MidWeek!

  • Christy Avilla column in MidWeek, Dec. 12, 2012

The Slippah Foundation was created in 2005 by Avilla’s mother, Lynn Vasquez.

“(My mother) started realizing that the kids who were running around and playing in Mayor Wright Housing didn’t have any slippers,” Avilla explains. “She started asking people for donations, and just by word of mouth this small little organization turned into this thing where the community is involved …

Everything that we collect is from the community.”

Mahalo Christy for the nice column in MidWeek about the Slippah Foundation! Mele Kalikimaka!

6th Annual Slippah Drive 2011!

2005 Slippah Kids, the inspiration for all of this!

Aloha everyone,

I’m going to launch as in previous years, on November 1. This is the 6th year!  =)

My Daughter, Ligaya Hartman, will be helping me this year.

The picture is of the original boys, the reason we started this in 2005. It took a like of it’s own.  Pure heart and love.  The Spirit of Christmas lives in us to share with others.
